The year 2008 promises to be an interesting year for Wow Magic Sing & M2K MUSIC as it launches its record label WOW MUSIC. The label’s first project is the distribution of Kitchie Nadal's latest album Love Letter.
"We are very proud and honored to have Kitchie Nadal as part of our growing family of independent Filipino songwriters deeply committed to promoting original Filipino music and artistry," says Andres V. Sanchez, president of WOW magic sing.
M2K Music Licensing Corporation, a sister company of WOW magic sing, currently administers all music licensing deals for Kitchie Nadal’s songs.
"I can't agree more when people say that M2K Music is the independent Filipino songwriter's haven," relates Roca Cruz, Nadal's manager. "M2K has quietly supported Kitchie's career all the way. And we're confident that the Wow Music label will also be the best for Kitchie's career as an independent artist."
Kitchie currently endorses Caltex Chevron. Kitchie and her song “Highway,” feature prominently in Caltex’s “Ka Road Trip” campaign. “Highway” is one of the songs in the 17-song repertoire of Love Letter.
Caltex’s TV ad is set to feature Kitchie Nadal very soon. Shot in South Africa, the TV ad will feature her album's first single "Highway."
Love Letter was launched on March 14, 2008 and is available at all Caltex Star Mart outlets, Odyssey and Astrovision.
2007 turned out to be a great year for M2K Music, with several songs successfully licensed to various high-profile projects.
Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid’s Indi Music made its first ever offering this year with the release of Dennis Trillo’s self-titled debut album. Its carrier single “Lumilipad” was written by Hannah Leah Aracena, the youngest songwriter on the M2K roster at age 20. Other M2K songs on this record include “Kung” by Odette Quesada; “Magtatagpong Muli” by Lisa Diy and “Sayaw Sa Hangin” by Isha Abubakar.
Popular rock group Bamboo’s new album, We Stand Alone Together (EMI Music) features the hard-hitting activist anthem “Tatsulok” written by Rom Dongeto.
After a long hiatus, pop balladeer Gino Padilla is back with a new album. Hands Of Time features the title track written by Bernadette “Berns” Gutierrez as well as a duet with Zsa Zsa Padilla called “Find That Child Hiding In You” by Christine Bendebel.
Pop fusion sensation Kala continues to ride high with their latest single “Pulis Pangkalawakan” from their self-titled debut album. The song enjoys heavy rotation on MTV as well as local radio.
Carlo Vergara’s comicbook opus Zsa Zsa Zaturnah is now Ze Musical, thanks to the fun and colorful music of veteran composer Vince De Jesus, who joins the ranks of M2K this year.
Christine Bendebel’s “Kung Maibabalik Ko Lang” is the carrier single in the original soundtrack of ABS-CBN’s hit tv series Sana Maulit Muli. Interpreted by Pinoy Dream Academy winner Jay-R Siaboc, the hit pop song was also prominently featured in that reality singing contest on the same channel.
The Company’s Reuben Laurente has gone solo with Pop Virtuosity, featuring Laurente in fine vocal form performing the works of Alvina Sy (“Nasasaktan”) and Markel Luna (“A Single Soul” “Ibibigay Ko Sa ‘Yo” “Ito Na” – in collaboration with Laurente).
Father & Sons has released their latest album Isla Ng Boracay under F&S Records. The carrier track “Bay-Bay Sang Boracay” was written by Rico Soliman and continues to make waves on local radio.
M2K licensed two of Isha Abubakar’s songs for the film Paano Kita Iibigin (Star Cinema) starring Regine Velasquez and Piolo Pascual. Produced and interpreted by Regine Velasquez, the song “Manhid” was also included in the film’s original soundtrack. Another song of Isha’s, “Lately I’ve Been Lonely,” was used in one of the film’s sequences.

Happy New Year everyone! We at M2K Music are in a celebratory mood. We have just concluded our first concert, Nina….Gold, which had a successful run at the Music Museum for seven nights last November and December. It’s our faith in the songs that we manage that made us venture into this monumental concert series, our first. Nina performed songs by M2K songwriters like Odette Quesada, Bodjie Dasig, Freddie Saturno, Christine Bendebel, Jimmy Borja, Alvina Sy, Larry Hermoso, Rene Novelles, Snaffu Rigor, Jingle Buena, Gary Granada and featured as guests Gary Granada, Nonoy Zuniga, Noel Cabangon and Nyoy Volante. We could never forget how the audience would sing along to such hits as “Growing Up,” “Farewell,” “A Smile In Your Heart” and “Kung Maibabalik Ko Lang,” among many other great songs! And we could never forget how Gary Granada brought the house down with his sharp-witted songs like “Babadap-badap” and “Kahit Konti.” Kudos to Nonoy Zuniga, Noel Cabangon and Nyoy Volante for being the seasoned pros that they are, making the girls, guys and gays swoon with delight… at their artistry! Thank you very much to all our supporters! Special mention goes to WOW Magic Sing, the pioneer, the first, the best Magic Sing in the country! (wowmagicsing.com)
We are looking forward to a more prosperous 2007, to more song deals with music users…but before we can do that, we need the support and cooperation of our member songwriters! So, dear M2K songwriters, kindly renew your membership with us. You know where to reach us, but in case you’re busy, drop us a line at inquiries@m2kmusic.net. We’re always thrilled to hear from you!
And dear Music User, go ahead, have a listen! Many of the song we deal have international pedigree. In the case of the works of our National Artist, Col. Buenaventura, they have been played in Europe, Asia and the US. The works of other M2K songwriters have topped the charts in some Asian countries, and have enjoyed international release.
With the boom of the indie music scene and renewed interest of major labels in signing up new local acts, we at M2K feel that this is the best time to give budding songwriters some insight on their rights and on how their songs can actually make money for them because what they don’t know is oftentimes used against them. Hopefully, in our own modest, digital way, with the new and improved m2kmusic.net, we can contribute to this ongoing boom in Filipino artistry. Scroll through our songwriter’s pages and listen to streaming audio samples of our songwriters’ works and be inspired. Listen to our jukebox on the homepage for a sample of the songs we deal. Though they are diverse, they have one thing in common: they are catchy and timeless…and truly a gold mine for the songwriters, for M2K, and for the national patrimony.
Mabuhay ang Filipino songwriter! Mabuhay ang original Filipino music!
